New Delhi: In boost regional air connectivity, the long-awaited Bareilly airport building was inaugurated just a few hours before general election dates were announced. The airport building was inaugurated by state civil aviation minister Nand Gopal Nandi and Union minister Santosh Gangwar JI. Flight operations at the airport will start soon.
Bareilly which is the epicentre of Rohilkhand will be connected to Lucknow and Delhi soon under government UDAN scheme. This terminal can handle 75 passengers during peak hour. With air connectivity from the city, not just Bareilly but the whole region will experience a good boost in all sectors.
The first flight from Bareilly to Delhi or Bareilly to Lucknow might start on April 15. At a rally in Greater Noida recently, PM Modi announced that commercial flights from the airport will start in a few weeks. A ToI report quoted Gangwar saying, “We have received a letter from Jet Airways about the commencement of flights most likely from April 15”.
The report further cited AAI sources saying that 72-seater flight from Lucknow will land at Bareilly airport in the morning and will take off from Delhi at 9:50 am. The return flight from Delhi will touch down at 12.55 pm and will take off for Lucknow at around 1:20 pm.
